If this isn’t me finally pulling the figurative trigger, it’s pretty close…
Last year – or probably earlier – this was going to be the 8th page of The Next Day, as well as pages 9 & 10, with Alice first filling Violet in on the whole Disney incident. But I’d decided it would be better to have Daisy tell the story, so The Ride Home became the 11th page. And then the 12th, based on the source file name. Now it’s (currently) officially the 14th, unless I change my mind again, one way or the other…
That’s been a big problem for me, for the past three years or more – I keep adding to the story out of some hope that the regaining any interest in continuing it, but I’ve only succeeded at not simply finishing it and moving on. And looking back on everything that’s happened since this story started… I NEED to move on.
Page 12 just needs a tiny bit more, before I can assemble it and call it done. Like this one, I may not ink or color it. Page 13 could be assembled from mostly recycled bits from previous pages, but I’m not sure if it’s even necessary. Page 15 is thumbnailed… but I need to be DONE.
The flip side to wanting and needing to be done with this story, is there are a number of ideas that I just can’t let go of, and that are too attached to this one to be recycled later. Maybe once page 12 is assembled, I’ll have a clearer idea of what to do with the rest…

When I’m writing a story or book, I always refer to about the 60-70% finished point as the slog point. You’re tired of the story, the damn thing won’t go away, and you don’t see that you’re making any progress at all. Good on you for sticking it out. I look forward to more of the strip!
