With this page out of the way, I hope to get back to having some fun. Considering how long this whole “long weekend” story has been going on for (4 years and counting), and everything that’s happened in that time, it’s no wonder I’m tired. The recent family tragedy might’ve been the final straw. This page was in progress when I’d received the call, so continuing it became even more exhausting. As jarring as it might be, this and the remaining pages will only be in sketch form. I just don’t have it in me to ink & color them.
The problem I have now is that, as ready as I am to move on from this story, there are some ideas that I just can’t let go of, and that can’t be recycled later. Page 13 would/will end Daisy’s exposition with a potentially amusing punchline, while page 15 brings Rose back in for a cute moment. But both of those pages are also indicative of the larger problem I’ve had with this story – I keep adding to it.
The next major section is the one that really concerns me. It would check in on how Mercy is handling the diner, so it’s not something that can be saved for later. As thumbnailed, it might be 4 pages, but I think I’ve added to it since then. Doing it instead as a novella is another option that I’m considering, but there are some parts that would work better visually.
For now, I may need to take a proper break, without this chapter hanging over my head*. For the next week I’ll be camping, but the weather looks like it’ll be difficult to enjoy the outdoors, so if nothing else I’m hoping to get some pinup ideas. I may even be open to suggestions, if anyone has some costumes in mind that my girls just need to try on.
*except there’s still page 13 to think about…
